COMPANY PROFILE MTS Shipping & Forwarding (full company name is MTS Gemi Kiralama Tasimacilik Ve Tic.Ltd.Sti) was established in 1990 to act as brokers for charterers / owners and to give agency service at all Turkish Ports. MTS decided to start freight forwarding activities in 1995 in Izmir and have expanded every year since. MTS is presently operating with 68 experienced staffs in its own offices in Istanbul, Izmir, Mersin, Ankara, and Bursa growing fast and steadily, MTS have become one of the leading freight forwarders in Turkey. MTS is comitted to the our goal of offering a system of efficent, convenient and cost-effective freight services to its clients. This goal is achieved by maintaining a precise coordination between its dedicated team members and the various agents of its intricate international network. HISTORICAL FACTS 1990: Founding of group company "MTS CHARTERING" in Izmir, initially as a charter broker and ship’s agency cooordinator. 1995: Founding of group company "MTS FORWARDING" in Izmir to start freight forwarding activities. 1996: Opened office in Istanbul. Istanbul became headquarter. Set up warehouse in Izmir. 1998: Opened office in Mersin 1999: Opened office in Ankara 2000: F.I.A.T.A. accreditation obtained. NVOCC licence obtained from FMC. 2001: Air services launched 2002: Opened office in Bursa (Gemlik Port). MTS handled over 20.000 teus Oceanfreight and 1.200 mtons Airfreight. 2003: Set up container terminal in Istanbul and added 10 brand new trucks to MTS fleet, to expand our distribution service nationwide. 2004: MTS handled over 35.000 teus Oceanfreight CHARTERING & AGENCY MTS is one of the leading chartering companies in Turkey and acting as brokers for many American, European, Far-Eastern and local charterers & owners especially for iron and steel cargoes. Besides brokering, MTS is acting as operators leaving from Blacksea & Eastmed to the Redsea, East Africa, U.S. East Cost, U.S. Gulf and Continent. Besides our own offices in Istanbul, Izmir and Mersin Ports, MTS is giving a full agency service at all Turkish ports, by using the network of experienced subagents. In 2002 MTS handled over 800.000 tons of different type of cargoes by serving to 183 vessels at Turkish ports and arranged transit passage for 150 vessels.
