Inflation in the Netherlands is on the rise!

The monthly inflation in the Netherlands breaks a record rising from 5.7 percent in December 2021 to 6.4 percent in January 2022 because of the rising energy and food prices in the country.

Dutch Statistical Institute (CBS) announced the inflation rate in January. According to the institute, the monthly inflation, which was 5.7 percent in December 2021, rose to 6.4 percent in January. The announced figure was recorded as “the highest monthly inflation seen since 1982”.

It was noted that the increase in energy and food prices in the country caused an increase in inflation, as well as the increase in energy prices which is 90% more expensive than in January 2021.

It was reported that inflation in the Netherlands, which has continued to rise in recent months, reached its highest level since 2003 on an annual basis last month.

It was announced that inflation, which was 1.3 percent in 2020, reached 2.7 percent in 2021.
