Year 1977… Akyar Brothers opened their first fabric store in Fatih, Istanbul. Offering local and imported fabrics of the highest quality only, the store quickly built a reputation, becoming a haunt for seekers of premium fabrics in Istanbul. Since then, Aker’s rise has gone beyond a commercial success story to evolve into a story of the passion for textile and an exciting journey fueled by the desire to always offer the best to customers. As with all things born out of passion, the brothers’ efforts soon bore fruit. Thanks to their rigor and never-compromising attitude, Aker continued to grow, opening a second store in Bakirkoy. Quality fabrics and rich designs made sure that Aker’s reputation kept growing each day. Aker puts the principle of maintaining quality at the heart of its way of doing business. R&D and technology investments, new stores every year, women’s wear and handbag production next to silk scarves... All thanks to that first-day passion, which keeps powering every single thing that the brand does. This passion helped constantly renew and position the brand. Although Izzet Akyar left the company in August 2013, Aker walks on confidently into the future with the addition of second-generation Akyar family members.
