Explanation

Development of Aronia Sapling Aronia berry is a deciduous plant. With the arrival of spring, it begins to give its green leaves. It takes on white flowers in mid-April, and in the third week of May, aronia flowers turn into fruit. The aronia harvest is done at the end of August and the beginning of September, and towards autumn, the leaves of the aronia seedlings start to fall again, taking on a red color. The root system of the aronia sapling is very strong. It adapts to all kinds of soil conditions; Aronia seedlings can be planted easily even in areas where planting of most fruits is impossible. Aronia seedlings start to produce within two or three years after planting, depending on the growth rate. If you plant three-year-old aronia saplings, you can get the first harvest after planting in September. In Which Climate Does Aronia Sapling Grow? Aronia is a plant species that is resistant to harsh climatic conditions. It can resist temperatures of -25°C in regions where the winter season is difficult. Good results can be obtained in aronia cultivation in areas with plenty of sun and semi-shade. How to Plant Aronia Saplings? Aronia seedlings do not have special climatic requirements. The most suitable areas for aronia cultivation are those that receive full sun or light shade; south-facing and slightly inclined to the south. Aronia sapling is a perennial, bush-shaped berry type that can be grown in a wide range of soil types and pH ranges due to its high adaptation capacity. Soils with good drainage, medium texture, rich in organic matter and pH value of 6-6.5 are recommended for aronia cultivation. Before planting, the bushes, stones, trees should be cleaned and the land should be processed from a depth of 50 cm. I Bought Aronia Saplings, What Should I Do? - When you receive the aronia sapling, take it out of its packaging. - Lightly water your aronia sapling. - It is recommended to plant seedlings in the early morning or evening when evaporation is the least. - Since the aronia sapling grows in the form of a bush, many different planting styles and planting distances can be applied. However, it should preferably be planted in the north-south direction. - For producers who have the possibility of machine harvesting, at least 4 meters between rows and 0.75 - 1.25 m between rows can be preferred. - If cultivation will be carried out in the form of a hearth, it is recommended to be between 2-2.5 m between rows of aronia saplings and between 1.5 and 2 m above rows. - In hearth cultivation, 180-220 seedlings are required per decare. - Planting is done by opening pits with a diameter of approximately 30 cm and a depth of 20 cm. How Should Aronia Saplings Be Watered? Aronia sapling is face rooted. Therefore, tillage should be done superficially. Soil cultivation in the spring period is very important in terms of providing weed control as well as aeration of the soil. The water demand of aronia sapling is not different from the needs of other fruit species. Annual precipitation in the range of 500-600 mm is sufficient for plant growth. However, it is important that precipitation falls during the vegetation period. Irrigation can be done with one of the drip or sprinkler methods, depending on the available possibilities. According to its location and soil structure, irrigation should be done to ensure that the soil where the aronia sapling is planted is always moist to a depth of 20 cm. If the climate does not go too dry during the post-harvest winter months, no irrigation is done. Pest Control of Aronia Saplings With a light pruning to be made in the spring months, the bushes in the aronia saplings are opened and diseased and damaged branches are removed from the environment. In the opened hearth, aeration is increased and the risk of disease and pests is reduced by pruning and thinning the tight shoots. Attention should be paid to aphid pests, fruit worms and red spider pests that come with spring in aronia seedlings. For pest control, put 1 spoon of oil, 1 spoon of soapy water and 1 clove of grated garlic in 1 liter of water and mix well. Squeeze the leaves of the plant under and above the leaves with the help of a pistol. If you don't like the smell of garlic, you can remove it. It is useful to put a colorful, fragrant, sticky trap for each sapling in the spring. Blue basin is also an important agricultural control method for the broad bean pest. Harvesting Aronia Fruit Aronia fruit starts to ripen from the end of August and is collected in the period until the end of September. The pus layer, which gives a healthy appearance, is not removed from the fruit. Fresh aronia fruit should be firm, plump, dry, smooth outer surface and a shiny silvery haze layer. It should not contain leaves and stems. Fully matured, robust and moisture-free fruits can be stored for 2 months without any loss of quality in cold storages with a temperature of 0°C to 1°C and a relative humidity of 90-95%. Aronia berries to be processed should be frozen at –18°C by rapid freezing and stored at -23°C. Frozen aronia can be offered for sale with the cold chain, processed in the industry or preserved for many years with very little loss of vitamins and minerals.
